Sightless_Wisdom Damn the ferocity and speed of this all. So memorable of Deicide Legion, Azarath's Blasphemous Maledictions, and also some Myrkskog. If you understand those references then you know exactly what to expect. If you don't then be prepared to have your face ripped off then a sledgehammer hitting the exposed bone undernetah. For the more eloquent, please take the words Oppresive, Militant, and Dictator and come up with a description of their sound. So crushing my brain cells took a beating. Favorite track: Unfathomable Manifestation.

Ippocalyptica A somewhat blind-faith preorder based on two songs, I not only have no regrets with that decision, but am floored by just how much death metal fury, power, and precision Garoted have packed into this album! I had never heard of Garoted before last month, but they have clearly put a ton of thought and effort into Bewitchment of the Dark Ages. This is about the best death metal that I have heard this year, and truly calls to mind the best works of Deicide. To the DM AOTY list this goes!

An outstanding Extreme doom death album, in the best tradition. The funerary atmosphere reminds of Evoken ('Centuries of ooze" bears striking similarities, for my delight). It is overall sharp, dark, hypnotic and unrelenting. One of those rare convincing new bands that hold proud the legacy of the biggest names. Bertrand Marchal
